Is it silly to be offended by this?

We told my parents that we were expecting our first child this weekend and immediately my mother says, "well, you know your sister is expecting too." And goes into this long story about my sister trying to have a second child and all the trouble she's been having. I was upset that there wasn't more rejoicing on my part and less pity party for my sister.
