Kids were removed against their will from foster family in the 1980's?

I think it was in the early to late 80’s that some very young sisters were forceably removed from their loving foster family. The removal was televised and was so heart-breaking. The foster family had raised them for quite a few years and swore they would win them back. I never heard another thing about this sad situation. Does anyone have any info on that situation?
