For travelling solo, which better Hong Kong or Tokyo?

I am going to be travelling alone. I have decided to go to either Tokyo or Hong Kong. I have never been to either. I will spend possibly a week there. Has anyone who has been to either recommend one or the other? Is there much for the solo traveller to do at either one? Thank you.
