When the oil runs out - 20 questions - What happens?

Oil won't ever *run out*. What will happen is that as it gets rarer and rarer it'll get more and more expensive to extract. Eventually it'll get to the point where oil will be a luxury of the rich. Food prices will go through the roof, there will be political instability, and there will be war. Humans will probably survive on what alternate forms of energy they developed before the decline of oil; however, we'll be a sad shell of what we were.
